I know that many of my posts have told you this, but I just want to say it again … I am absolutely amazed at the love I feel for you and your brother. Before having kids you have no idea that this type of love exists. It’s overwhelming and makes you examine yourself and your own life more than ever before. It makes you fearful. Fearful that something could happen to you or your brother, something I’m not sure I would ever fully recover from. Fearful that I often don’t respond to you with the patience I should and fearful that it will someday hurt our relationship and bond. Fearful that me and your daddy won’t have the wisdom we need to properly discipline you the way you personally need to point you in the right direction in life. It seems like the fears and the concerns never end when you become a parent. There’s a constant fear and weight on your shoulders that I’m not sure ever goes away. You don’t fully understand the gravity of having smalls souls entrusted to you, until you actually have those precious beings in your arms. However, watching you grow and your personality explode over the last 2 1/2 years have been the best times of my life. Through good days and bad, I feel so blessed to have you and your little brother. We, as a family, are so incredibly blessed and I hope that we raise you to be grateful for these blessings.
Here are some things you have said and done over the last 4 months, a snap shot of your personality:
*Me (getting ready for church) – Do I look good?
You- yah…no. (Pause) You look terrible.
*you are such a little momma. You try to sooth, cuddle, feed, etc Easton. You’ll wake up in the morning and run to him going “hey buddy!”
*I realized that I probably leave you in your pjs too much when I told you “we need to go get dressed.” And you said “to go where?” Haha.
* You were digging in the dirt (which we have plenty of, this backyard is awful right now) and you pulled up our security sign that goes by the back door. When I saw you walking around with it I went to take it from you and you quickly said “Look, I have an octagon!” Then after I took it from you, you promptly said “Can I have my octagon back?” Lol. At least you know your shapes. Ignore the fact that you looks like a homeless child. I promise you get bathed. : )
*when we were on our way to Wally…
You- you can’t go, that light is red.
Me- no, it just turned green.
You- it’s kinda red.
….driving advice from a stubborn 2 year old….
*You came into Easton’s room while I changed his diaper …
You- look at me!
Me- you got dressed! … In pink head to toe. You look good. Where are you going?
You- I’m not going anywhere. ::pause:: I look good for Jesus.
Me- oh you do?
You- yah, and God too. Jesus is God’s son.
*(Watching an abc video) Hey! I just saw a K. My name is Kinsley.
YOU… crazy crazy you:
*Even though you have a lot of sassy moments, you ARE very funny too, and you crack me up every day. I just wish you cracked me up more than you sassed me. Ha!
*You are EXTREMELY hyper. Like extremely. Like bouncing off the walls crazy. I worry for you in school. You’re super bright and quick, but you just can’t sit still to save you life. You’re always constantly fidgeting.
*You refer to daddy as “my daddy” and me as “my mommy”. “Where is my daddy??” It’s pretty stinking cute.
*Naked naked naked naked naked. Oh, and pantyless. A lot. We’re working on teaching you some modesty!
*You’re very VERY verbal. You can carry on conversations with older kids easy. You love to talk and ask questions too. In fact, you pretty much talk non-stop from the time you wake up until you go to sleep. It’s fun that you can talk so well and carry on conversations with me, but I’m not gonna lie, sometimes I miss the quiet before you could talk. Ha.
*You LOVE to play with other kids. You would go anywhere if I told you there were going to be kids there. You have no problem just running up to a kid and starting to talk to them. No matter where we are or whether you know them, if there is a kid there, you are playing with them. I love that about you. I love that you enjoy other kids so much and love to play and be social. You are going to absolutely love school.
*You absolutely love it when we get to make cookies or communion bread. Mainly because you like to lick an put your tongue on everything you possibly can. Ha. You also like to “help” me cook. After we get done you love to play with the dishes in the sink and transfer the water around.
*While Easton was going through his fussy, clingy stage it was hard for me to divide my time between y’all. Now as he is growing out of his fussier stage and his personality and understanding are growing, it is easier to play with you both at the same time.
*Like any two year old you go through different stages and they change often. Sometimes you’re super sweet, caring, and loving. Other times you can be super sassy, defiant, and stubborn. All in all you are one spunky crazy kid, and I wouldn’t change your personality for anything.
*You love PINK. Like pink everything. You would wear pink head to toe every single day if we had enough pink clothes that you didn’t run out. It is easily your favorite color.
*You go into your closet and get yourself dressed every morning. Every time you get dressed you either put on a dress, or put on the same color shirt and skirt. You think you don’t match if you don’t have on all the same color. We went through a stage with you that you would argue with us about what you were going to wear out. Thankfully this stage passed pretty quick. You do still have a strong opinion on what you like and don’t like to wear but you don’t argue with us like you used to. You love clothes though and you love to get dressed up!
I was doing some sewing and you were my little helper. You like to hand me the pins and to stick them back into the pin cushion when I’m done with them. You always hand me the pink ones first. : )
A little bit about you and your daddy:
Your daddy doesn’t get on here much, so I wanted to take a second to tell you a little bit about you and him. You absolutely ADORE your daddy. It is for good reason too, he is so great with you. You get so excited when dad gets home from work and will start running around like a crazy person cause you are so happy. Then for a lot of the evening you are practically attached to his side. You will follow him around while he puts his stuff away and gets changed, then you guys will take Zoey for a short walk a lot of days, and then we usually have dinner. Most nights Dad puts you down for bed and he’ll lay in there with you for a bit and tell you stories and sing to you. You hear a lot of Bible stories during this time and love it when we tell them over and over and over again. Your current favorite is Jonah. You could listen to this story multiple times every day. When I see you two together and how great your daddy is with you it makes me love him more and more and makes me even more grateful for our family and all we have together. Seeing how attached you are to him and how much you love him melts my heart and makes me so thankful that I found such a great man to be the leader of our family. I hope that our family bond will do nothing but grow and strengthen throughout the years and that you will always turn to us when you need someone to fall back on.
It’s hard to believe that your next post will be when you’re THREE years old. I can’t believe it. Seems like I blinked once an here you are such a big kid. I’m afraid that i’m going to blink again and you will already be in school. It’s crazy how fast time flies. I love seeing you guys grow up, but I can’t help but feel sad at how fast it happens. Watching you grow and develop into the little person you are is the most rewarding thing I have ever gotten to do. We love and adore you little girl!
